I am trying to decide which of these bikes I want - I am probably buying a 2-3 year old model - any opinions on which is better - tell me why its better - also any known flaws or problems I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance for your help

I own a Burgman 650. There are a few minor differences between the two. The first being price. The burgman new runs around $8,500.00 while the silverwing new runs in the $12,000.00 range. The burgman exec comes with grip heaters. It is a standard or automatic transmission but there is no clutch for manual shifting. It is done with a thumb switch. I am unsure if the silverwing has both options. Both bikes offer excellent ride, comfort and protection from the elements. I considered a silverwing but the price and a few minor aesthetic touches, for example the handlebars are naked on the silverwing but on the burgman there is a molded cover on the bars and canter hub, as well as the burgman has a door protected side body mounted fuel filler cap so no chance of spilling fuel on the floor or center seat structure when fuelling up. As for known flaws I have not heard of anyone bringing up anything like that on either bike. Honda and Suzuki have some very high quality and highly durable bikes. My bike is a 2005 and I have had no problems in any way with it yet. I like the looks of both bikes but I love my burgman.

Look through the forums in the link below, and try burgmanusa.com for details on the burgman and people who have owned or ridden both. I think both are high quality manufacurers, so I'd compare features, fit, and test rides. I've read the Burgman 650 has a permanent belt that should not need replacement.

That depends entirely on whether there is a good Honda or Suzuki dealer closest to you. They are really, really close. The Yamaha T-Max is in the same league as well.
