I've done my car licence in 2002. I did my CBT just a few weeks ago and with this licence and CBT I can ride 125 cc motorbikes for 2 years with L plates and no passenger. What I need to do to get full 125cc motorbike licence now? I wan't to remove L plates and carry passenger. What steps I need to follow to achieve this?

Hi Charles,

as you are obviously aware in order to remove L plates and carry pillion passengers you must pass you practical motorcycle driving test.

The nest logical step for you is to take the Motorcycle Theory Test. (yes we know you have done a car one but the DSA are a money making organisation)

Next The Module 1 Practical Riding Test.

A skill test in an off road environment ( well a 140m x 40m fenced area).

Consists of serve and emergency stop at 50 kph. Slow speed ride, U turn and slalom.

Finally the Module 2 practical riding test.

About 35 minutes of on road riding with the examiner following you. A hill start and a couple of angled starts will be included in this.

The steps in logical sequence can be found here - http://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/index.htm

The Governments site on tests here - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/PracticalTest/DG_178328

You will need to;

1. Pass a motorcycle theory test - multiple choice questions and hazard perception - £31

2. Pass the Module 1 test - Carpark based manouvures - £15.50

3. Pass the Module 2 test - Onroad section - £75

If you pass all of the above tests on a 125cc bike, then you can ride ANY bike without L-plates, so longs as it's restricted to 33bhp or less (for the first 2 years after passing). If you pass the tests on a bike of 41bhp or more (normally a 500cc or bigger) then you can ride ANY bike with ANY power output amd of course carry a passenger and remove the L-plates. To answer your question specifically, yes, if you pass the full motorbike test then you can ride your 125cc bike without L-plates, with a passenger and use motorways.

You need to take your motorbike theory test even if you have passed the car theory and then your motorbike practical test before you can ride without L plates.

expensive Mr Hopkins, your 250cc Norton became purely slightly greater efficient than the 125cc "foodstuff blenders" you desire to insult, have been much less stable than modern-day a hundred twenty five's, and did no longer shelter besides. As for the unique question, no, you need to bypass your finished bike attempt to tear up the L-Plates, holiday on motorways, and carry a pillion
