Which bike should I buy. the '82 is in good cond and will cost about $600. OR should I spend more on a newer 250 Ninja (roughly 2grand). The bikes going to be used mostly for short commutes and leisure rides. I have the money, and like both bikes, but of course I don't want to just spend the money b/c I have it.

The 250 Ninja is NOT designed for people under 150lbs. It's Max weight capacity is 340 lbs. Granted, that is MAX capacity that it is DESIGNED FOR, but it's over twice as much as these bozos who have no idea what they are talking about are telling you.

I've owned both of the bikes you are looking at (though not an '82). Personally, I'd get the Ninja between the two, as it's newer, will have fewer issues, and should be more reliable.

I have experience in the Rebel. I had a 450 and the reason I had it is because I am five foot and it was the only bike I could reach the ground with high heeled boots (could not reach the ground w/o boots). If you are 6 foot you may have a problem. I thought they only made a 450 and 250, but it has been a decade or more since I had mine. I had no trouble on the open road doing the speed limit, but on a long ride, I do not know. The furthest I went was 100 miles from home. You might look at a shadow too, they look nice and are taller. I have no idea about the ninja. best of luck.

Like the other person said, the Ninja 250 Sport is designed for riders, which weigh less than 150lbs.

The Honda is a monster, a mean piece of two wheeled history! For the price there really is no other choice.

how much do you weigh? the 250 is for people under 150 lbs. but it will get much better gas mileage :) :(
