A very bad idea.

The biggest problem. If the bike is not on the list of vehicles authorized for import, you can not import it or ride it on the street no matter what you do. Even if you somehow get this bike into the country, you won't be able to ride it. All you will have is a very expensive lawn ornament. See the first link. You won't find either bike on this list.

Even if you could get this bike into the U.S., these models are not sold here. You won't find replacement parts, even from the Honda or Yamaha dealers. The dealers will not have a repair manual for your bike. You will have a very difficult time finding any mechanic willing to work on your bike.

You would be far better off waiting until you get here and buy a bike in the U.S.for this reason.

The Honda CBR250R or the Kawasaki Ninja 250R would be comparable to the bikes that you want to import. You find very few street bikes less than 233cc in the U.S. There is no market for them them here. Both bikes have a MSRP of about $4000. Why would you consider spending $5000 buying and shipping a bike with a smaller engine that you can't get serviced here?

is it a new bike or used?? cause tax varies. u must be aware of bollywood stars case and tamil nadu chief minister's lexus import case as well. if you use any loophole in the importation law there'll be consequences, thou not instantly. I found the following help from some other website, i'm providing it for you below. The second hand vehicle should not be older than 3 years from the date of manufacture and should have a minimum road worthiness residual life of 5 years. Import can be only through Mumbai port. The vehicle should confirm to Indian Motor Vehicle Act 1988 like right hand steering, speedameter indicating in KM, photometry of lamps to suit keep left etc. Can be imported only from the country of manufacture. Importers should give guarantee of supply of spares. The vehicle should be subjected to testing in Vehicle Research and Development Establishment Ahmednagar or at Pune or at Budni (MP). The present custom duty is 100% +surcharge +CVD etc makes the total duty at 180% of FOB value

Well, like other said, just search for shipping brokers or a motorcycle shipping companies and they will handle all of your problems and just pay for their services, I am not sure about how much but it gonna be a better idea if you are asking directly or just get free quotes on their website, you can try this one for shipping company

http://www.a1autotransport.com/info/motorcycle-shipping-companies.php

And it would be a better idea if you check the import regulation at first, some vehicle can not be accepted by selected country as it would not pass the standard vehicle and standard emission regulation.

If you are wondering it's worth or not, it's definitely not worth it! as you will pay very expensive for that, unless you have not issues with money..

Eathn,i would rather see you buy American sold Japanese bike,or Korean.if you have one

shipped there is a part problem, and no warranty,There is no other country who makes a 225cc

or 150cc but India.for $ 5,000 you can get a nice Yamaha or Honda.you would be better off and a

lot happier.just think after buying a bike, on a cold winter day you can hang out at the shop with the biker guys sipping on a RC cola, or coke rapping bike talk, planning your next bike buy.and the

dealer will be looking for your next bike also.

To begin its not worth it and check with usa the standards required for example Suzuki maruti 800 car won't pass an emissions test in any of the top five countrys rad cap, the paddles are too close to each other won't meet standards

Just contact a shipping brokerage company and they will be able to tell you all the details needed to get your bikes. I called to get a car from overseas and it was all taken care of by the brokerage compnay who dealt with customs and imports. All I had to do was get car certified to comply with local government requirements to use on the roads...safety check and compliance with emissions etc...easy to do.
