I've got a Dowco Guardian WeatherAll Plus cover which is supposed to be waterproof. I've been trying to put it on in a way that minimizes any water collecting on the cover. But water still ends up on the bike (to my amazement there's sometimes quite a bit of water collecting in the bottom/chin fairing) and I don't believe it's from condensation. I'm thinking of applying a waterproofing spray of sorts and will be checking out a couple of outdoor sports stores in town. Can you recommend a product?

Also, what kinda small footprint canopy or similar structure have you use to cover your bike with?

If I wanted to make a cover more waterproof, I would start by sealing the seams with a product designed for use with tents, available at a camping store. Then I would treat the fabric with Camp Dri or Nikwax.

But I am not sure I would want complete waterproofness. Do not underestimate the destructive power of trapped condensation. I would rather have a cover that breathes, even if it lets some moisture through. You are not just keeping water off. You want to protect the bike from UV above all else, but also dirt, snow, leaves and twigs. While you are at it, you might want to put some De-Con around, or get a cat, because mice will play hell with a stored bike, even if it is protected from the weather.

I have used a spray on water proofing available for tents and rain flys for tents with great success. Such a product will stay on a long time and be effective if it is sprayed on in an even coating on your cover. Also, it should be readily available at most camping supply stores. Remember, if it specifically says its for a motorcycle, it will cost 2 to 3 times more than if it is for something else! Especially if you buy it from a motorcycle dealer and not a general motorcycle shop! Harley is notorious for costing twice as much just because their name in on the container!

I think that would be a good idea. The Madden cover has a curse of jinxing player's careers. So if Sean Taylor was put on the cover there wouldn't be a career to end. But they only put on super super stars, like players who get the most and stuff and publicity so don't expect Taylor to be on the cover.

303 fabric guard or Aqua-Tite. Available at many marine dealers.

Think about a custom cover from a higher grade fabric. Marine acrylic (Sunbrella) or a vinyl coated polyester (Aqualon) would be more waterproof. Support poles can be added to a custom cover or the existing one to keep rain from pooling
