I won't get on a bike without a full-face helmet - law or no.

Some of the people posting on here about 'sheeple' and using flawed logic like 'you could get killed even with a helmet on' need to go troll somewhere else.

the law can be changed overnight.  now it is a good idea to wear a helmet as you can "waste a micro car"  Besides hair paint costs more than a rattle can of Purple Glitter.

Maybe the riders do not ride in the one state and the next state requires a helmet.   You got it and it has a radio so a good sound system and you do not hear the exhaust so much.

. Also if you do wipe out your head hits the ground first and a helmet keeps the hair on the head...instead of BLOOD AND A HAIR PIECE LIKE TRUMP.

I had my left leg amputated from the knee down after a motorcycle accident in Oct of 06. Would a helmet have done me any good? NO. Wasnt wearing one that day and I dont even own one now. I suppose you see people wearing them that chose to do so. Thats them exersising the right of freedom to choose. Thats their choice . Let those who ride decide. I choose not wear one. Nothing wrong with a helmet. There is however something wrong with a law that says you have no choice. I refuse to wear one. I made the decision after waying all the facts , It cuts down on peripheral vision and on my hearing as well, Its extra weight on my neck. I know that GP racers wear them but Im not racing an I? Im not rolling at anywhere near the speeds a drag bike or Moto GP is running at. Im not saying dont wear one. Im saying make a choice. If you wear one good for you. If not still good for you. Helmet use in some non-nanny states is 'optional'!

Wearing a helmet in those states is a personal choice.

I wear a full face helmet because I find wind noise extremely annoying (to my ears)!

I also frost bit the wet part of my eyelids some 50 years ago on a seemly warm but very dry humidity morning on a 1 3/4 mile bicycle ride to college and did not turn around close to 1/2 way .. or walk the bike to school!    … I can not tolerate the wind in my face for the last 50 years!

Finding and purchasing a full face helmet with low noise and a great many ventilation options comes at a painful price!

My motorcycling manor is 'rash' and rarely termed legal.  So in rural speed far excess of what is deemed normal in populated areas … I need a full face helmet and pushing it forward with my chin in oncoming wind attempting to flatten it against my face is not an unknown sensation!

It seems counter intuitive but wearing a full face helmet allows you to hear vastly more than going without a helmet.. but that does not come readily with a full face helmet you can find in common motorcycle shops!  I have a great many 'loud' full face helmets in my past.  The differences between the two are very obvious (and expensive!).

Helmets are only required for those under 18 in Idaho.  However, many people choose to wear a helmet for safety even when it's legal NOT to.

My husband and I ALWAYS wear a helmet - I've known a few people who DIED when they may have survived had they been wearing a helmet.  You may survive a mild crash - but major head injuries don't often turn out well.

Just because they may be no law means nothing.  If there were no Fed seatbelt law, you'd  still see a lot wearing. (Wouldn't affect child restraints, they would still be required.)

Give me a Choice and I'll  Choose Wisely.

Take that  choice Away and I'll rebel,  cut off  my nose  to  spite my face.

Because it is human to rebel even if it is a safety issue. So now there's no helmet law and people paused to actually think. If there were a law that forbid helmets can you imagine the public outrage? Spoiled people tend to not realize a good thing when it's sitting in their lap and whine about it if it's made law for their own good

In some states, even if no helmet law, under modified comparative negligence doctrine, they  Cannot collect any settlement in an insurance claim  if no helmet when in an accident, even if Not their fault. In  a state with  no helmet law, and pure comparative neg. doc,  the  amount they can collect is Reduced.  And by Warfel v. Cheny, case law . Juries are "unsympathetic" to bikers, especially if they are dragged into court over a guy hit with no helmet:

I live in a state where riders over 18 do not have to wear a helmet. And I usually do wear a helmet.

Again: There is IF under 18.

We have a no-lid-if-of-over-18  law here

in AZ, but most wear one, anyway. Even HAMC AZ wear a half lid or a German type helmet.

Maybe Idaho riders are more  Sensible, especially in the cold, if "all" (Every one?) wear. I seriously Doubt you saw Every rider Everywhere in Every situation. Or Maybe asshole cops Lie to bikers about the law, write bogus tickets no one disputes? And, This is the state Evel Knievel was from..

Onlyest time I don't  wear is with HAMC AZ Florence run or on the Malecon doing about 4 mph(if lucky, with the traffic.)

I can't speak for Idaho but I can speak for what I see in Michigan.  Based solely on my own observations, most riders do not wear a lid when cruising on city streets but will wear one while on the highway.

Where I live, helmets are mandatory but if I cross into Michigan, I continue to wear it by choice.

Riders and passengers under 18 are required to wear a helmet in Idaho.

When the weather is cold a helmet is useful for keeping your head warm.  Wearing helmets even in states that don't require them is becoming more common, going down when not wearing one doesn't usually end well.

Intelligent people will wear helmets, whether the law says they have to or not.
