I was just wondering I was comparing specs between the wr450 and yz450f and they looked almost the same. If some one can explain whats so differnt about them. And also would a wr lean towards trial bike or compeition bike.

Well to answer your last question, it is a competition woods bike. The TT-R line are trail bikes, the WR-F line are performance woods racing bikes. Of course you can just do casual trail riding on them, just like you could on a YZ-F if you so desired. I can't list every detail that differs between the two, but here are a few. The YZ-F has a little longer bore and stroke and higher compression ratio. The WR-F has lights and a spark arrestor, the YZ-F does not. The WR-F has a wider ratio transmission. The YZ-F is fuel injected, the WR-F is not. The YZ-F has slightly more sophisticated suspension with more travel. The YZ-F uses a 19" rear wheel and the WR-F uses an 18". The WR-F has a larger fuel tank and weighs about 27 pounds more than the YZ-F. But in a nut shell, the YZ-F is made for motocross racing and the WR-F is made for hare scramble, cross country racing.

The YZ is a pure motocross bike and so has no lights, clocks etc. The WR is made for enduro racing and so has all these. The engines are basically the same with some possible tweaks. The WR could also be easily put on the road if you wanted a race/road bike.

Mostly it's in-case gearing and electrical hook-ups.
Steering geometry is different, the yz having a steeper angle on the front end and the wr a longer wheel base.
The yz is suited toward motocross, the wr more towards trail/woods.

yz250 = 2 stroke motocross bike, wr250 = 4 stroke enduro bike. Its a world of difference.
