There will always be some idiot telling you to use 20W50. Use the 10W30 the manual recommends. All thicker oil will do is give you poorer cooling and less oil flow, particularly in the tight spaces where you need it the most. Mobil 1 synthetic 10W30 would be a good choice.

WD-40 is mostly solvent and will just wash away what lube the chain has. Use chain lube.

Engine should be warm/hot when u change oil (be careful not to burn urself on pipes, etc) but warm/hot oil holds more impurities making for more effective oil change. A non-synthetic 20/50 is a good coicefor motor oil. Use chain lube, not oil or WD-40, for chain, as chain lube sticks and WD just flys off and even damages some chains. WD only as a temp if nothing else avail, but only until you get some real chain lube.

Look in you owner manual if you do not have a manual go to a dealer they will sit you up. Use want the manual shows because the detergents are different. You can use other oils and it will be cheaper for now but later it will be costly. Do not use the oil that goes into the bike on the chain, it will not hurt the chain but the oil get on your pant leg in my case rain gear the oil will never come out of your clothes. My motorcycle mechanic gave me 6 in 1 oil lubricant for the chain in a spray.

You want to use some 10-30 in the crank case (engine, sort of) and you need to use chain lube/wax not WD-40 on the chain. Go to your local dealer and they have chain lube/wax. You want to drain it when it's hot. I like to put the drain plug back in when it's cold so I don't seize it in there for next time.
