HARLEY and ONLY HARLEY....Charity Rides, Bike Week, Bike Night at Hooters...You ride a Harley or you stay home... Make it your own with thousands of thousands of after market parts.Ride it to all the Harley parties all spring summer fall and when your ready to get a new ride....Sell it for what you paid for it....NO LOST VALUE....Check the prices of 10-20 year old Harleys $$$$$ and then Hondas (worthless)

It depends on your personal preference, money you want to spend, etc... I currently ride about 20,000 miles a year on my BMW R 1100 RT I love it, it is a good travelling bike, but if I had the money I would also own a Harley dyna wide glide for cruising, and shorter distance rides, a GSXR 1000 for speed and running around town, and a BMW R 1200 GS for off road touring.
In the past I have owned a honda shadow 1100 it was a very good bike to start out on and very resonably priced
I like my BMW because I can ride it all day and it doesn't wear me out, the fairing works real good and cuts most of the wind off you, it has an electric adjustable windshield, heated handgrips, 6.6 gal gas tank so I can ride 230+ miles compared to about 150-200 of most other bikes. It also has antilock brakes and for me that is one of the most important reasons I ride BMW. I hope you find the right bike for you. there are so many choices and when it comes down to it you are the only one who has to be happy with it.
Help me please!

There's nothing like a Harley. Just ask any Harley owner. Everything else pales in comparison, it's the most respected motorcycle in the world of motorcycles.

You need to define "street" for yourself -- there are lots of classes of motorcycle nowadays. They're all ok across the spectrum of roads but some are better on some types of roads than others. Where I live there are lots of little roads shooting up and down mountainsides, and a sportbike is less effort than a cruiser to get around the turns.
