I know a small woman who rides a Kymco Venox 250.

Seat height is 29"

Yamaha 250 Virago seat height is 27"

The seats on these bikes are narrow so it's much easier to put your feet on the ground than on my wide 1500cc Honda

Have you tried the Honda Rebel or Shadow series, Yamaha Star series, Kawasaki Vulcan series or the Suzuki Boulevard "S" series (the "C" series will have seat heights that will be far too tall for you)?

None of the bikes with the lowest seat heights will be available in the larger engine sizes, but you can also get a lowering kit to lower the bike another inch or two in order to get the seat lowered to a more convenient height for you.

Now if you have the money to spend, you can get a bike custom built to fit you at any of a thousand custom bike builders, locally and nationwide.

There is also the option of getting a sidecar rig or a trike to ride.

First your need to learn to ride. Check with your local Harley Davidson dealer for a Rider's Edge class. they use the Buell Blast for the class. It is a 492cc sport style bike with an available low seat at 25.5".

I'm 5'3 & can stand flat footed with room to spare.

Many models of motorcycles are low enough for we short ladies. It's about knowing how to handle the bike with finesse rather than brute strength.

A good pair of boots with a slight heel 3/4 to 1 inch would be all you would need.

One of the ladies in my Hog group is 5' & she handles a 1200 Sportster. Of course, she's a teacher & used to hazardous duty.

Learn to ride properly & enjoy the ride.

The best option for you is a bike with a low seat height. Honda pretty much corners the the market on this. The rebel 250cc cruiser sits pretty at 26.5 inches, the shadow 600 at 26 inches, and the shadow 750 sits at 26.5 inches. Sport bikes are almost certainly out of the question. But these cruisers should point you int he right direction. The key is finding a bike you can throw a leg over and put your feet down, preferably both flat, but one flat and one touching will do. Go to several dealers and just sit on a bunch of bikes til you find one you can handle. Good luck!

One solution is to get a bike lowered. This generally involves two options: i) lowering the suspension; ii) thinning the seat foam.

These links may be worth contacting (by phone perhaps) as they have experience with customised suspension.

American import kits: http://www.soupysperformance.com/products.html

Obviously this all costs - but it may be a useful investment to make a bike fit you. With a suitable kit the bike can be restored to original height if and when you want to change it, and it may increase the number of people interested in buying.

Good luck.

Look at a yamaha 650. Probably the biggest bike u can get for a short girl. otherwise look at a 250 or mopeds.

Hero Honda made a lovely short bike known as the "Street 100cc" which is quite a rage in the far east. It is easy to ride, has 4 gears but no clutch and hence it is a breeze to ride in city traffic.

Unfortunately being a Honda, its price was on the higher side and so after 4 years of manufacture, the sales were not enough to justify the continued manufacture. So very reluctantly, although it was a super fine product, it was wound up.

See if you can lay your hands on one of these in relatively good condition. Availability of spares may be a slight problem though, since they are not available easily. Only selected outlets have them. You won't need much of these believe me. I used one for 9 years.

Any of the major 4 jap makers 125 cc cruisers have a low enough seat height, as do the 250cc cruisers...

The Virago made by Yamaha is 535 cc again a cruiser and again low seat height.

The 883 by HD is higher though well planted and a lower Cof G But not an easy bike to learn on and to me should really be discounted, but you might like them.

Kawasaki ER-6n ER-6F ( known in USA as the 650 ninja) can be lowered by both cutting the seat and shortening the shocker, this makes the sports tourer suitable for the vertically challenged

BMW though the seat can be reduced they cannot be shortened enough for someone of your stature.

Ducati Monster 620 M6 and the 695 can also be reduced in height and are designed to accomodate those of short stature including arms, not all italians are 6 footers hehe

Scooters cannot be reduced in height and the width of the floor boards make riding one if you are vertically challenged difficult,

however, the MP3 made by piaggio is practically self ballancing and so you step on and off, rather than having to put your feet down, this would be ideal for your stature and probably the best consideration.

Hope this helps

Go with a 600cc sportbike (huge adjustability), then have it professionally lowered by a moto suspension expert. Lowering link in the back, back out the preload, soften setting, and drop the front forks an inch and you should be able to sit on the bike with both toes touching the ground with a reasoably smooth ride.

I have a non-lowered 07 CBR600RR, am 5'5", no problems at all, can touch both feet to the ground

BTW mopeds/scooters suck lol
