I need a relay for my road motor bike, i need power when i turn off the ignition and no power when the ignition is on. So, when the relay receives power its off and when its not receiving power its on. Its only about a 10watt device that im running.
Thanks lots Maddy ;-)

A standard 5 pin Lucas 6RA relay will do the trick. W1 to the switching source W2 to earth (or neg)

C1 to power feed. C2 and C3 will be alternately live with or without relay activation.

you need to look at how much current you want to switch as well as the coil voltage (probably 12 Volt since you're talking about a bike) Most general purpose relays have change over contacts. You use the common contact & select which of the others you want depending on whether you want the switch closed when under power or open then. Be aware too that if you are switching very low currents you need a relay with contacts designed for this to - high power relays are not good at switching very low currents reliably (they rely on the current "burning ' off any contamination on the faces of the contacts

That would be described as a 'normally open' relay.

A relay will be called as it is 'at rest' that can go two ways: 'normally open' or 'normally closed'.

By your description you are looking for a 'single pole normally open relay'.

Hi what you need is a change over relay and wired to the normally not connected contacts.

so when it is energised the contacts make a circuit.
