What kind of motorcycle did Prince ride in his movie Purple Rain? Make and Model?

For all of you that still wonder about this question, I may have a little clarification. The Honda Silverwing wins. I'm watching the movie as we speak and after Prince drops off Apollonia, a closeup on the bike revealed a huge HONDA. I also think that it may be the 650 vice 500 model.

Nope, sorry, but you are all wrong. Prince rode Apollonia Kotero on a 1983 Honda Silverwing in Purple Rain. The front fairing was modified slightly. For those of you who don't know, the Silverwing was a Honda 550cc engine on a Goldwing (1100) chassis.

It's a Honda, look at the Comstar rims. And it's a vertical twin with chain drive. It's more than likely a CM400T with a Vetter fairing. The second link is a discussion on another board about the bike. It's definitely not a Goldwing, Silverwing or Kaw.

It definitely was not a Silverwing, as those had a longitudinally mounted V-Twin and shaft drive. The old Silverwing was a CX series bile. Prince's bike sported a parallel twin and chain drive, so it was either a CB or CM series 400cc bike.
