Im a 15 year old girl, im thinking of getting a motorcycle because, i can get it in a month, its WAY cheaper with price and insurance,it rarely ever rains or snows.I can start driving earlier, with a car I wont be able to get it and my license for about a year. I have to pay for it on my own, I have 1,500 so far saved without a job.Im pretty responsible,im not going to go on a highway with it or anything too dangerous, and also it would be pretty cool to be the only girl with a motorcycle. Is it hard to learn how to drive a motorcycle? Should I just wait a year and get a car?

Sorry, insurance is not cheaper. Depending on the type and size of motorcycle you buy, your $1,500 will be barely enough for insurance. For 6 to 9 months.

Two thirds of your available cash will be needed for riding gear.

Tires are short lived and expensive to replace. Not uncommon for rear tire to be replaced after 6K to 10K miles. Not uncommon for a rear tire to cost $125 to $175 plus installation. Very common for car tires to last 50K to 60K miles, then requiring about $450 to $550 for replacement.

Before you buy ANYTHING, get insurance quotes.

Strongly recommend the car first.

I had a bike in NY and CA. Did 2 years with only a bike in CA.

Bike only is not so great. It still gets cold as hell in CA some times especially, if it rains in the winter.

It's your choice. You could buy a Running Honda Rebel for cheap like between 800 to 1500 bux.

Be prepared for the tire cost and other maintenance. Learn to do Engine oil change and Chain maintenance and it will help you keep costs down.

Plus cost of Helmet(atleast) and a MSF course. I am forgetting some other costs.

First, enroll in a motorcycle safety course.

Ask again when you finish the course.

That aside, bikes are fun and riding them is somewhat dangerous, especially to the new rider, but to be truthfully honest with you, wait and buy the car. Next year think about the bike.

I started with a motorcycle and still have one. Lots of fun, but the car would be more practical. Be sure to take motorcycle safety lessons.

if your a sencible responcible person , take training, pay a proffessional to teach you how to ride a bike, invest in proective clothing ( helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, pants). start riding, go out on rides as often as you like, build up your expierence and confidence. Once you are allowed to go on the highway and feel confident enough to, you should be fine.
