My motorcycle is stalling at idle speed while starting only but runs fine afterwards. What should I do?

I have a Hero Honda Hunk 150cc motorcycle. Please consider this scenario:

I drive the motorcycle for 10 to 12 kilometres. Now I stop at a shop for 5 minutes. Then I get on the motorcycle and push the self starter. The engine starts immediately but runs for 2 seconds at only 600RPM (way below normal idle speed of 1200 RPM) and then stalls immediately. I push the self starter again. This stalling occurs for about 15 times till I get annoyed and blip the throttle immediately after starting. Then I put the bike in gear and drive away. Now, the strange thing is when I put to neutral while the engine is still running, the engine idles very nicely at 1200 to 1400 RPM with no problems of stalling. I tuned the motorcycle about 50 times but of no use. No matter how much I tune the carburettor, the engine stalls while starting even when the engine is hot. Please help me out.

I'm assuming that on one of those tune ups you did change the fuel filter too. It sounds to me like a dirty fuel filter or even a worn spark plug, plugs do slowly wear out with no signs of being bad other than poor performance. Try using a higher octane gas too, I had one once that would not run at all unless I used the 93 octane gas. You'll get better performance and better gas mileage too. It's also possible that the carb is dirty, try using some carb cleaner on all the linkages outside and be sure everything is moving easily freely. It could be on the inside with a dirty needle valve in the carburetor bowl or a worn needle valve that needs replacing. It could be a dirty carb jet inside the throat chamber, or a bad spot in a gasket somewhere and it's sucking air there, make sure everything is tight at all the gaskets too, engine vibration can and will cause screws & bolts to loosen sometimes. It's a good idea to replace any rubber fuel lines too, I've seen old one start to deteriorate inside and tiny bits of rubber clog the carb some. One reason why it doesn't idle well while in gear but does in neutral is because while in gear there is more load on the engine regardless, it's just a little more load demand but enough to demand more fuel for more power. That's all I know, it could be any number of electronics on the engine these days that is malfunctioning too. Good luck.

from the details you gave me it sounds like your clutch is partially engaged, and is stalling your engine out.does the bike want to pull when you have it in gear while idling?if so this then you'll have to adjust the clutch, this can be done 1 or 2 ways.if the clutch is a little bit out of adjustment try adjusting the clutch from the perch where your lever is located on the handle bars,if that doesn't solve the issue, then you you'll have to adjust it from where the engine clutch arm is located, you can follow the cable down to find where the clutch arm is located.remember when adjusting the clutch arm(opposed to adjustment on the perch) that the clutch arm on the engine should at least have a 1/4 inch of play,(that is with out the clutch being engaged).

Blessings to all. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. As Christians, we need to be aware of Satan's schemes, or devices. Satan does all he can to keep an unsaved person deceived and in darkness. As it is written, SATAN, WHICH DECEIVETH THE WHOLE WORLD-Rev 12:9. There is a battle between truth and error going on inside of each person. That battle is for a person’s soul. The devil persuades many in their thoughts that evolution is how we came into existence. The adversary puts in the minds of others that the Bible is not God’s Word but just a book written by men. He makes some believe that it is too difficult to understand. And if you do believe the Bible is the perfect Word of God, Satan will do everything possible to stop you from studying it, by using many distractions and other devices. If you study the Bible, Satan will try to cause you to believe certain passages do not mean exactly what they say. If you do believe God’s Word, he will try to choke the Word that is in you, by using the lusts of this world, the cares of this life, the pleasures of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and many other devices. Satan is a master at mixing the truth with deception in your mind and causing confusion. Satan persuades many people that there is no heaven, hell, judgment, or God. He causes many to think that he does not even exist, or that, if he does exist, he is nothing more than a little red cartoon character with horns and a pitchfork, who is mischievous but not dangerous. He causes some people to be bitter toward God. He causes many others to be deceived on how to be saved. He blinds their eyes. There are many people that look like they are led of God, but they are not. They themselves think they are being led of God and deceive many.I pray God keeps you in the center of His will. .

I'd check the air cleaner, too.

Use regular gas. High octane gasoline will not cause your bike to perform better if it is designed to use regular.
