greetings, I have a ds 650 and crankshaft damage I, and is very expensive rod worth as 1000dlls. but I was told the workshop that can repair the damaged rod and is much cheaper, but not if you look good, according to the guy that manages it is very good and has a good reputation for motor heads and fix those things.
I agree but do believe that is reliable fix?
What do you think?

It all depends upon what the problem is. If the connecting rod is bent, those can be straightened if the damage isn't too excessive. After straightening, it would probably be wise to have the rod magnafluxed to expose any cracks. If the main bearing shell spun in the rod and enlarged the hole, that could probably be brazed or welded upon the (depending upon the rod material) and bored out to the proper diameter. If it's the little end and the hole in the rod is loose where the piston pin goes through, that might be fixed by boring the hole out, pressing in a bushing and then boring that out to the proper diameter.

If the crankshaft is bent, those too can be straightened. If a bearing journal is scored, depending upon the severity of damage, they can be either turned down and an oversize outside diameter bearing used if the bearing is available (not sure about that). If the journal is damaged or deeply scored, it's possible to have the journal welded up and turned down to the original diameter.
