I was riding my dirtbike today and all of a sudden my chain breaks but it just rolls out, it doesn't get hung up or anything And the motor was still running it just wouldn't pull because it had no chain, my question is do you think it may have done any damage to the motor ? Sorta the way a car does if their timing chain breaks and bends valves, plz let me know, thanks

i had this on my kx 250 a few years back . if your engine starts and no oil or fluids are leaking then you all good.

check your sprockets(front and back) tho for damage check the teeth.

and dont use the broken chain get a new one cus next your bike mite lock up on you .

the chain is a drive chain it isn't connected to any valve gear or anthing to do with the cylinder so your thoughts on damage to bent valves etc is totally unwarranted.

But the chain when it snapped is likely to have whipped

if it did this there is a chance it might have caused damage to the case, your best bet is to examine when you remove the cover to replace the chain...

AND

do replace the chain, the fact it broke at one point indicates the whole chain is worn and needs replacing along with the sprockets

The drive chain drives the rear wheels only. It has nothing to do with valve timing. Unless you revved the engine WAY past red line, no damage.

If there are no puddles of oil on the floor/ground, all should be well.
