Unless you have a Service Honda CR500, which probably isn't the case you have a pretty old bike. Honda hasn't made the CR500 for a good while, 2001 maybe? Also these 2 bikes are intended for two totally different purposes. The CR is a motocross bike and the WRF is a woods bike. If you will be riding trails the WRF is by far a better bike and if you are talking about a late 90's CR compared to a fairly new WRF there have been huge improvements in suspensions, frame technology, etc. so the WRF will have many advantages from an R&D perspective. Honestly I don't know anyone still riding an open class 2 stroke.

So powerfull the 500 cr, I had one for more than 10 years. Mind the way of opeing the throttle, bon't ride it like a 125 or 250... it's a different kind of riding technique. The CR is a winner on power, but the CRF has more maniability.

that CR 500`s thrill factor is a "**** your pants rush", just be sure you can handle that before choosing. 4 strokes are dogs, if you want that rush, the CR is more rush than youll ever need.

I would prefer the 450 personally but I am used to a modern bike with great suspension and handling. I guess it is relative to what you are used to. Seriously, if you enjoy your 500 and it still runs good I would just hold on to it. Yes it is out-dated but very few people have those bikes anymore and the rush of twisting the throttle on an open class 2 stroke is pretty intense.

there was a pro shoot out not long ago between the crf450 and the cr500 and i think the 500 won. thats pretty impressive giving the age and weight difference... but the cr500 rider said that there is no way he could do it lap after lap it just took to much out of him, unlike the crf which you could ride all day long.

i would get the crf450 and drop the 500 motor in, that would be a beast

REAL MOTORS HAVE NO VALVE'S!!! when you can climb a hill in first gear 1/4 throttle and have that wicked mad grin on your face of pleasure that when you know you got a real bike HONDA CR500 all the way........but then its nice to know you can have arms after a 15 mins ride el oh el...both bikes are awesome thou

THE CR IS A 2 STROKE --VERY FAST AND VERY SENSITIVE TO THROTTLE RESPONSE. BETTER OFF FOR A GOOD RIDER WITH LOTS OF TIME UNDER THEIR BELT. THE 450 IS A FOUR STROKER WITH HUGE POWER , A BIT MORE CONTROLABLE FOR THE RIDER IF NOT HAVING ALOT OF RIDE TIME. ITS A LITTLE BIT MORE FORGIVING THAT THE OLD ELSINORES.. BOTH ARE FUN AND VARY FAST ! ! ! THE 450 IS FAR MORE RELIABLE FOR THE LONG HAUL. I GUESS IT WOULD DEPEND ON YOUR SKIL LEVEL. I HAVE HAD BOTH AND FOUND THEM TO BE HARD TO PICK A FAVORITE. THE CR DOES HAVE THE BULLET RESPONSE AND , THE 450 HAS A WAY BETTER RIDE AND IS LESS RIDER INTENSIVE.. ( YOU'RE NOT ALL OVER IT ALL THE TIME TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL) WHERE THE 2 STROKER IS A HAND FULL ALL THE TIME !

CR 500. Not as fast as the 450 but I LOVE riding two strokes. Nothing like steering with the rear wheel.

But if you have to settle on a CRF450 it is a great bike. I have ridden several and they are a blast.

Wolf Jay, I think you're talking about the Motocross Action issue where they raced those two side by side

i would rather ride the crf 450 because that thing is fast it will leave the 500 sitting because it is a motorcross bike not a rail bike like the 500

I would prefer the 450 but I bet that 500cc two stroke would be fun too.
