My husband has a problem, we would appreciate any advice.

He has a 1982 Suzuki GS 750EZ that has a broken pulse coil and a gauge cluster (we need to replace them before he can ride again -- and I apologize, I don't know much about motorcycles myself). He was looking on Ebay for used replacement parts, and is hoping that he found something that will work but I would like to have advice before I sink money into purchasing these -- I just want to know if they are compatible before we buy them.

The pulse coils he found are for a 1980 SUZUKI GS850GT (link below is to this ebay auction). And we still are having problems trying to find a compatible guage cluster.

Any advice you can share would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try the salvage yards.

My local guy may have one, I think he wound up with my '79 GS425L.

the parts are fairly standard across the range so the impulse coils are the same for the singles and doubled up for the twins and the fours

The four Cylinder system uses wasted spark so the cylinders are in pairs and share the coils between them. hence only two coil packs.

Regulators CDi's etc are the same even internal components are shared. So a GS 250 GS400 GS425 alternator are the same and shared with the bigger ( non seperate generator setup) engines

With the instrument cluster the original GS 250 400 425 all shared the same so go looking for those though

the larger bikes often had basic digital displays for gear shift etc so they may be harder to find

As an owner of both a 1981 Kawasaki KZ1100 and a 1983 Honda Gold Wing, let me give you this advice. Join aa active, vintage Suzuki owners forum (I am NOT a member of the one below) and become a participating member. Ask questions, make friends and donate to the website to keep it afloat. Most of the members that I have encountered are friendly, knowledgeable and generous. Give it a try and I promise that you won't be sorry.

There's a local bike wrecker that has a really good selection of parts. I don't know the website but try calling Bob's Cycle Parts: 602-437-3148

Good luck!
