Hi,

I want to buy a bike soon. My budget is upto 1.10 lakhs. I read the reviews about r15 & i would love to buy this bike. I just want a few confirmations on the below questions:

1. My height is 5.11 & i am the one wid a few extra pounds(arnd 80-85 kg)
Will r15 be ok for me when it comes to comfort in seating position?

2.
I live in a distant suburb of mumbai
I would be using the bike for riding in the city & also for getaways on the week ends, say around 100 to 300 kms.
Can r15 be used as a touring bike? as in is it comfortable enuf for long rides along with some1 sitting behind?

3.
I am a newbie to riding bikes.
This will be my first bike. Can i still go ahead with buying this bike considering that i am new to riding bikes?

4.
Please let me know about the comfort of the one who is sitting behind on the bike.
For Yamaha fazer, i read the reviews & it seems comfort is almost zero.
Also, does dirt splash on the one who is sitting behind, during rains..?

5.
I heard mileage for this bike is arnd 30-35 in city & arnd 45 on highways.
Can it be used for city rides as well...or is it just for racing purpose...?
Please confirm.

I know this is a long list of questions...but please help me resolving these queries...
Thanks in advance.

hey frnd i think ur height is gud and long enough...but R 15 will not suit u......its a small bike...bt its awesome....i suggest u to go for P220...it has power and nice pick-up....average around 32-38 and looks are cool...comfortable in city as well as on highways...go for P220....THE FASTEST INDIAN....

[1] I am arnd the same height and weight as you,it will neither be comfortable nor very uncomfortable too, but as you have to lean forward, it'll not look good with ur tummy hanging in air :P

[2] R15 CANNOT be used as a touring bike, u lie on it, so your back is gonna start aching by the 1st 50-100kms itself

[3] In a way its good, bieng a YAMAHA race tuned bike, it wont get spoilt by wrong gear shift or riding half clutch and such rough use due to lack of knowledge, but bieng fibre parts, any crash or damage will cost you pretty bad. A small crash will easily cost you 3000-5000rs

[4] It is worse for the person sitting behind. You better sit in front :P

Fazer is very comfortable for the rider, I havent sat behind one, so I am not sure about pillion

Dirt splashes from every bike unless u fit a long mud guard which is an additional peice

[5] Mileage will be only that much, n it is built solely for racing purposes (obviously)

[6]220 is actually a worse option, but it is more comfortable and will be better if you will hav pillion often as R15 with pillion make the engine suffer :P

Karizma R is a good bike, more comfortable, more mileage, more reliable but not actually a race bike

1

yamaha will not suit your height it is for short people.

2

yamaha R15 can be used as touring bike. also comfortable riding position.

3

yes,r15 is an easy to drive bike it's handling is very good as compared to p220 or karizmaZMR

4

you will not feel much comfortable riding when someone is sitting behind.

5

r15 can be used for city rides and it gives us a good mileage.

6

non of the bike is better.

r15 is a good bike but i recommend you to wait for YAMAHA R125.

yamaha R15 is short and is good for shorter peope. Its riding position is low and that means u cant ride it for more duration as u will start getting back pains. Of all ur queries ur findings is correct. I suggest u go for Pulsar 220 or karizma.
