I have a 1998 honda cr 125 that i can't get running. It ran great untill i was riding in some sand dunes and it just died. It has spark, compression, and the reeds are perfect. I have cleaned out the carb multiple times and all the lines and filters in the fuel system. i could not get it to fire even putting ether in the cylinder. What would be the next thing to check? thanks.

change the spark plug. sometimes they still spark but don't fire under compression. good luck

I had a 2002 CR125 that had similar problems...the bike ripped but then would randomly stop working...I had this problem for a couple years and finally sold it after rebuilding it many times trying to fix it...we finally figured out what the problem was that there was a missing lock nut on the carb and the air/fuel screw kept backing out after i adjusted it and it would just stop working after about a week of riding, then i would rip the motor apart and adjust everything again just to repeat the process all over again...

I would first put in new plugs and that the gas is mixed right as this has solved about 90% of my problems with 2 strokes over the years...if you still have problems make sure the carb is not clogged and that it is adjusted right, the air filter is clean and not clogged with sand, and that there is a strong spark and that should take care of everything as there is not much to a 2 stroke

Also what aftermarket parts do you have on it, my cr had just about everything imaginable done to it which made fast but also highly unreliable, when i rebuilt the engine i replaced it with stock motor parts and had no problems since...unless your racing its not worth modifying the motor just to get a couple more horsepower when it wont start everyother time and a little skill is all you really need to waste your friends

try pop starting it with the ether and a little gas. put it in 3rd gear and have some one pull you behind them about 5-10 mph and let go the clutch and just let her go until she fires. sometimes these bikes can be so darn stubborn and frustrating. so try that and if she dont light off with that, then there is a more serious issue, make sure you has a fresh clean spark plug in her when you do try it out, and the proper premix, 40:1 synthetic is what i run my yz125 on. good luck. let me know if you needs more help.

do you have enough compression? are you using fresh gas? may be some contaminated gas. and try a new spark plug even though it will spark out of the engine it may not under compression.. good luck..
